Specialist Curtain Wall Glazing Installation

A curtain wall is a lightweight envelope independent of the main structure, typically composed of aluminum profiles and double- or triple-glazed units.

The system transfers wind loads, its own weight and part of the lateral loads to the main structure, enabling vast, continuous and modern glass surfaces for towers, office buildings and commercial centers.

Built with correct details and precise installation, a curtain wall performs trouble-free for years; but installed straight from a catalogue without real experience, it becomes a source of water leakage, wind noise, occupant complaints and maintenance costs.

1Main Components

  • Vertical profiles (mullions)
  • Horizontal profiles (transoms)
  • Brackets and anchors
  • Double/triple glazed units (tempered, laminated, Low-E, etc.)
  • EPDM tapes and rubber gaskets
  • Structural silicone adhesives in frameless systems (SSG)
  • Cover caps, decorative caps, pressure plates and drip flashings
  • Thermal and fire insulation at slab edges

2System Types We Install

  • Stick System
  • Unitized System
  • Semi-Unitized
  • Frameless / Structural Silicone Glazing (2SG / 4SG)
  • Double Skin Facade

3Key Execution Details

  • Connection to the main structure with adjustable brackets and calculated anchors
  • Water drainage system within the profiles, preventing water accumulation at dead points
  • Design of vertical and horizontal expansion and seismic joints
  • Waterproofing of corners, slab edges, parapets and junctions with other materials
  • Design and installation of Fire Stop at slab edges
  • Design of openables (Top Hung, Parallel, etc.) and their waterproofing details

4Advantages of Working with Namakaran Fakher Engineering Co.

  • Direct execution with no middlemen; the technical decision-maker and the installation crew are one team
  • 23 years of hands-on experience across curtain wall system types
  • Design development (shop drawings) produced in-house, not entirely outsourced to suppliers
  • High sensitivity to waterproofing, fire and thermal expansion details
  • Ability to combine curtain wall with other systems (dry ceramic, HPL, thermowood, metal second skin, etc.)

Custom execution detail

The same section you work with during the site survey — from the concrete slab up to the cover cap. Mullion wall thickness, gasket seating and fire-stopping height are the three points where low-quality facades fail.

Part-by-part notes:

  • 1Vertical mullion in 6063-T5 aluminium alloy with thermal break — spacing set from wind-load calculations (National Building Code Part 6); a water-drainage channel inside the profile ensures no water is ever trapped in dead spots.
  • 2Double-glazed Low-E units (toughened + laminated on the lower floors) with calculated thickness; glass bears on the profile only through load-bearing nylon setting blocks, never in direct contact.
  • 3Double EPDM gaskets around the glass — the first line of waterproofing. Gaskets are laid in two pieces and never facing each other so water cannot track across; any water that does get in is picked up by the second line of defence (cover cap and weather sealant).
  • 4Three-axis adjustable bracket + steel anchor to the slab — 3D adjustment decouples the facade datum from frame-erection tolerances; welding onto the structure is strictly prohibited.
  • 5Slab-edge fire stopping: mineral wool panel + steel strap — per Code Parts 3 and 4, the cavity between skin and slab is closed as a fire compartment so fire cannot chain from floor to floor through the stack.
  • 6Horizontal transom with decorative cover cap and drip nose — the drip cuts the water path clear of the facade so it never runs down onto the glass below.

AI & analytical tools

  • Smart initial cost estimate based on area, number of floors, building use and project city
  • Recommendation of system type (stick, unitized, frameless) based on required speed, budget, building height and the desired look
  • Value engineering by comparing different scenarios (profile type, glass type, profile spacing) to reduce cost without sacrificing quality

Execution steps

  1. 1Consultation and collection of project information
  2. 2Design development and shop drawings
  3. 3Detailed estimate and a transparent contract
  4. 4Procurement of profiles, glass and hardware, plus panel assembly in the workshop if required
  5. 5Installation of brackets, profiles and glass on site
  6. 6Gasket and sealant application, quality control and final handover
