Facade Louver Installation — Teardrop Aluminum, Metal & Motorized
Facade louvers are contemporary architecture's answer to the Iranian sun: orderly blades that cast shade, control views and daylight, and give the facade rhythm and character. From fixed horizontal louvers on south-facing windows to aluminum teardrop louvers and motorized systems that track the daylight — this system delivers both energy performance and visual identity.
Namakaran Fakher Engineering Co. installs aluminum and metal louvers of every type — fixed, movable, teardrop, vertical and horizontal — with engineered connection details coordinated with the other facade systems; this very combination of louvers with glass, composite and punch metal is the essence of modern hybrid facades.
1Louver Types We Install
Aluminum Teardrop Louvers
- Oval/teardrop-shaped aluminum blades with a soft, modern look
- Horizontal or vertical mounting; the first choice for premium office facades and towers
- Powder coating in the project's desired color range
Metal Louvers (Aluminum & Galvanized)
- Flat, Z-shaped, C-shaped and aero blades in various sizes
- Robust and economical for second skins, parking structures and service screening
- Longer spans achievable according to the architectural detail
Motorized Louvers with Automation
- Blade rotation via motors, shafts and an engineered mechanical system
- Control by panel, remote, scheduler and light/wind sensors
- Connection to the building's BMS — automatic angle adjustment tracking the sun
Fixed Vertical Louvers & Horizontal Sunshades
- Vertical louvers for east and west facades — filtering the low sun
- Horizontal sunshades for south facades — shading at the right height
- Blade spacing and depth designed from a sun-path analysis in the project city's climate
2Motorized Louvers & Automation — How Does It Work?
- Each louver band is rotated by a servo/gearbox motor or a central rotating shaft
- A light sensor matches the blade angle to the sun's altitude; a wind sensor closes the blades during storms
- Scheduling: open at dawn, full shade at noon, closed at dusk — air-conditioning energy use drops substantially
- A serviceable detail: motors can be replaced without dismantling the entire band
3Applications
- Second skins of office towers and hotels (glass + louver double skin)
- South- and west-facing windows of office and educational buildings
- Multi-story parking structures, atriums and stairwells
- Roof service screening and utility areas
- Interior wall design and decorative ceilings (louver as a decorative element)
4Technical Notes
- Wind load and torsion calculation for long blades — selection of the right thickness and span
- The optimal blade angle depends on the facade orientation; a single angle for all elevations is a common mistake
- Fixing to the substructure with adjustable brackets — no stress on the blades
- Maintenance: periodic motor service and sealing of the bearing journals in movable louvers
5Advantages
- Serious reduction in cooling load by blocking direct sun before it reaches the glass
- Glare and privacy control without losing daylight or views
- Modern rhythm and visual depth — a signature material of contemporary architecture
- Durability and simple maintenance compared with mortar and timber facades
Custom execution detail
Spindle means an aerofoil-shaped blade rotating about its own vertical axis: closed for shade in summer, open for light in winter — motorised or manual.
Part-by-part notes:
- 1Extruded aluminium spindle blade with 1.5 to 2 mm wall — the aerofoil section gives bending strength and allows 180° rotation without blade-to-blade contact.
- 2Rotation axis (stainless pin) with sealed bearings — the point where cheap systems use plastic and then run dry and noisy after two years.
- 3Anodised aluminium frame — the frame must be aligned with the structural sub-framing; a frame out of level means blades rotating out of sync and collision noise.
- 424 V motors with central control (BMS/remote) — on large facades each panel runs on its own motor and all of them take their command from a single controller; wind and rain sensors can close the blades automatically.
- 5Anodised or powder-coated finish — louvres live in full sun; a QUALICOAT-standard powder coat keeps the colour for the first decade.
